Automotive Sales Training Tip: Improve your closing ratio by offering a pre-approval


My name is Chris Schulthies and welcome to PROTiPs. If you want to close 50% or more of your customers, you and your dealership may want to consider implementing an express finance or lease pre-approval service. What that simply means is that once you've sat down with a customer at your desk early in your sales process, had a cup of coffee, got to know them, built a bit of a relationship, learned of their wants and needs, we would simply offer the customer the option of getting approved for a loan or lease upfront, rather than the traditional end of the sales process. A lot of your customers want this choice.


So, here's an example of the offer to a customer. Mr. and Mrs. Lee, today when people shop for new home, which most of them do, is they visit with their bank first and establish a mortgage pre-approval. That way, when you're shopping for a house, you can do it with confidence and comfort. So, we thought, why wouldn't we offer that very same service here at our dealership, when purchasing often your second largest asset, so now we do. It's our express finance pre-approval service. It just takes a couple of minutes of your time. It does not obligate you to buy a car from us, but it's just an added and unique service that we provide so that you can shop for a vehicle with comfort and confidence. Is this a service that you'd like to take advantage of? Allowing customers the opportunity to get pre-approved at the beginning of the sales process will increase your closing ratio and just as importantly, significantly improve the customer experience.
